Clinic Equipment

East Melbourne Eye Group has a wide range of diagnostic equipment used to provide comprehensive eye care for the vast majority of eye conditions.

Ascan

The IOL Master 700 is an Ascan machine which acquires the relevant measurements of the eye to obtain the appropriate intraocular lens (IOL) for cataract surgery.

OCT

The Heidelberg Spectralis Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging system that uses light waves to take cross-section images of the retina (back of the eye). It is also equipped to acquire Fundus Fluorescein Angiography and Auto Fluorescence images.

Pentacam

The Oculus Pentacam is the gold standard in anterior segment tomography. It has the ability to produce imaging and calculations of the corneal curvature, contour and tissue at a microscopic level.

Visual Field

Zeiss Humphrey Visual Field Analyser 3 (HVF): The HVF is a diagnostic tool, which maps the visual field. It is the gold standard in perimetry ensuring advanced efficiency in glaucoma diagnosis and monitoring

Compact Touch Ultrasound System

The compact touch 3 in 1 ultrasound system provides both Ascan ultrasonography and Bscan ultrasonography. This allows our surgeons to see through more dense cataracts ensuring no vitreal pathologies prior to surgery as well as a more detailed look at retinal detachments.

2RT Retinal Rejuvination

A non-invasive retinal laser procedure that stimulates a natural, biological healing response within the eye to help stop or slow the degenerative process that causes age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

The 2RT laser is also used to treat chronic Central Serous Retinopathy (CSR).

YAG PI, SLT & Capsulotomy

YAG Capsulotomy: A safe and painless laser procedure designed to treat Posterior Capsular Opacification (PCO), following Cataract surgery.

YAG PI & SLT
Selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) treatment is for Glaucoma. It uses short low-energy light pulses to improve drainage of aqueous fluid in order to lower eye pressure.

Laser Peripheral Iridotomy (PI) is another treatment for Glaucoma. Performed for patients with narrow drainage angles. A tiny opening in the peripheral iris is created to allow an opening up of the angle.

Retinal Laser

Retinal Photocoagulation is used to treat a number of retinal conditions such as; retinal tears, diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusion.
