She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Ophthalmologists and Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons. She is a general ophthalmologist with a particular interest and expertise in cataract surgery and the use of premium toric and multifocal implants to correct astigmatism and presbyopia in suitable cases.
As well as her private practice, she has been involved in training registrars as part of her public hospital appointment at the RVEEH for many years. She was Head of Clinic for 12 years and currently holds the position of Clinical Lead, Surgical Ophthalmology at the RVEEH.
Dr Tangas has also been involved with University of Melbourne medical student teaching since obtaining her Fellowship. She was Fellow, University of Melbourne Department of Ophthalmology for 10 years and continues to be involved in undergraduate teaching.
Dr Tangas has also taken part in the clinical teaching of Optometrists when they have spent time at the RVEEH outpatient department.
